A teacher by trade, a mother and wife by choice, Pop singer-songwriter Kimberly Arnold – a proud volunteer and Rotarian – wouldn’t change a thing about the life lessons and personal journeys that inspired her debut album, Underneath The Apple Tree. The ten song collection, released in June 2015, is a lifelong dream realized.
A music enthusiast since as far back as she can remember, Arnold’s early career saw her performing in community and church choirs, as well as musical theatre productions such as Evita and 42nd Street. After making the move with her husband to Northern Ontario, Arnold began sharing her vocal and musical gifts with the people of her adopted hometown, Elliot Lake.
A small mining community turned retirement haven, Elliot Lake is the kind of place where an artist can thrive and hone her craft. For years Arnold sharpened her chops at local events and fundraisers, including the annual Relay For Life, yearly Community Christmas Show and numerous Salvation Army Radio-a-thons. In the spring of 2014 the singer-songwriter began work on what would become her very first collection of original compositions.
Less than a year after joining forces with fellow songwriter, producer and performer Todd Sterling, Arnold found herself in the legendary Studio 19 in Nashville, TN, recording Underneath The Apple Tree. Along with John R. Cal another local guitarist, composer and producer who helped to co-write nine of the songs on the album and was an integral part of it’s creation, Arnold and Sterling recruited Nashville producer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Neubert (Hal Ketchum/Trace Adkins) to co-produce the project.
Neubert who, along with his duties as co-producer also played several stringed instruments and sang harmonies on the album enlisted industry vets Kyle Hershman, Steve Peffer, Dow Tomlin and Steve Holland for the recording sessions. Says Arnold about the recording process: “The time I spent recording in Nashville was both incredibly educational and wonderfully magical. A dream come true!”
With the results of those Nashville sessions now available worldwide via iTunes and by clicking here. Arnold, with the support of her loving family, husband Wayne, son Callum and daughter Sarah Rose, has turned her focus to promoting Underneath The Apple Tree.
